Beredskapstroppen, the Norwegian Elite Police Unit, also called "Delta", is in charge of anti-terrorism, hostage rescue, high-risk arrests, and armed missions in Norway as well as abroad. They also police Oslo. Beredskapstroppen can be compared to the US SWAT units.

In order to join Delta, one must be at least 25 years old. One must be a police officer first, and a citizen of Norway.
It is to note that the average age of an Delta Operator is 34. Candidates usually get a police 3 year college education.
Selection is open for women as well as men, however so far, no woman has made it into the ranks of Delta yet.
