Frogman Corps Physical Fitness Test

Denmark's Fromandskorpset, Frogman Corps, is one of the elite special forces of the Danish Forces. The Frogman Corps is in charge of hostage rescue, boarding, sabotage, and counterterrorism. Only 311 soldiers made it into the unit since creation.

To join the Frogman Corps, the candidate has to be between 21 and 31 years of age and a Danish Citizen. They enroll for 39 months. If the Operator can maintain his level of fitness and level of skills, he can further enroll for more years.


Usually, the candidates who are interested in joining the Frogman Corps, have to undergo previous testings such as the FYSISK test, the Danish Armed Forces test. They have to Ace the test, meaning they have to reach a Level 5 on that test to be further screened.

Pre-Selection Frogman

This is followed by various physical fitness events that are performed within the next 5 days. The Water test lasts about 12 hours. Swim exercises in uniform, underwater swim, dive with the mask with snorkel, fins, and lead belt 2-4 kg). Further testings are Split Squats with each leg, 3x15 repetitions with 20kgs, Pullups, Dips, and Burpees. They also undergo various isometric holds, such as planks and an isometric hyperextension hold. The candidates will undergo a thorough medical examination and plenty of interviews to ensure that appropriate candidates.

Selection Frogman

Selection Phase Training takes about 10 months. During this phase candidates will learn advanced military communication, orientation, shooting and battle swimming, vessel service and patrol service, diving, and parachute, entering and boarding of vessels, and explosives training. They also go through lots of martial arts classes, survival courses similar to the US Sere School and rescue swimming courses. 600 people are applying yearly to join the unit, 70 will start the course, and only 12 people make it into the teams.

Bronze Circle - Frogman Corps

A famous fitness routine of the Frogman starts with a bronze circle exercise in 12 minutes. 4 Chinups, 8 one-legged squats on the left leg, 12 crunches, 8 one-legged squats on the right leg, 10 pushups, 10 reaction exercises, 12 back extensions. This routine has to be performed three times within 12 minutes.

Characteristics of a Danish Frogman

Good health, Good physical fitness, Strong Self-confidence, and Perseverance in extreme conditions are qualities of a Danish Frogman. The unit also requires good morality, self-criticism, and a good ability to coop with various situations.

All current and past members of the Danish Frogman Corps received watches the Linde Werdelin Oktopus, each watch bearing the badged operator service number. These watches will not be available for anyone else outside of the Frogman Corps.

The crown prince of Denmark is a Frogman.

The Fromandskorpset trains closely with the British SBS and US Navy Seals.
