Border Patrol Jaeger Workout

The physical fitness test for the Border Patrol Special Force Unit of Finland is performed back to back. All 10 exercises are performed within one day. There is a time cap on the first 4 events. All those have to be performed within one minute. Exercise 5 is a suicide run between cones. Cones are lined up 10 meters away from each one. This is followed by a coordination test. The candidates then will perform a 5KM Ruck Run with a 12 KG Weighted Vest. Only the last 3 KM will be timed. This event will provide the most points for the candidates. The test than continues in the swimming pool, where the candidates swimming and diving abilities are tested. They have to swim 200 meters, perform an underwater swim of 10 meters and dive to pick up 2 objects at a depth of approximately 2 meters. They then will go onto their final event, which is skiing. They will ski 10 KM in total, but only the last 5K are timed. The time will be set by the cadre depending on weather conditions. Furthermore, the passing standard total is set also by them. Therefore one should focus on achieving great numbers in this test.

Selection Special Jaeger

To become a Special Jaeger, the candidates have to go through 3 phases. The first phase lasts 12 weeks, followed by an advanced phase of another 26 weeks, and another 12 weeks of in-team training. Of those times in training, which is about a year, the candidates will spend about 100 days in the forest. The first phase consists of an orientation, basics of weapons training, copying abilities, and more. The following phase, the advanced phase, is considered extremely hard. Candidates will go through AUK1, AUK2, and also winter training. Once those two phases are passed, the operators will train very specifically for the task ahead such as border security and other duties on the job. Their training is purposefully hard, to enable the operator to be ready for any crisis type of situation.
