Fuerzas Especiales Mexico Physical Fitness Test

The Mexican Special Forces, the Fuerzas Especiales from the Navy, are trained for all types of situations. They are trained for Recon, Search and Rescue, unconventional warfare, counter-terrorism, and amphibious warfare.


They previously received their training through Navy Seals from the U.S., Kaibiles from Guatemala, Flotilla 13 (Shayetet 13) of Israel, and from Colombian Special Forces.

To join F.E.S., one cannot be older than 34. One must have shown a history of good behavior and be an active soldier in the Mexican Navy. To join the Mexican Navy, one cannot be shorter than 1.70 cm (5ft 7) and has to be at least 18 years old. Before they can join, they will be background checked. The candidate has to have graduated from high school. Less than 20% of Candidates will graduate and make it successfully through the various stages of F.E.S. Selection.

Fuerzas Especiales Selection

The Selection Phase lasts about 7 weeks and happens in the jungle and muddy terrain. The training happens in hot rainy weather in South Mexico. During Week 1, the candidates will go through land navigation and a lot of swimming. In week 2, they will learn and will be tested in first aid, rucks, again swimming and again land navigation training. They will then go through specific water exercises and water testings in the following week. From this point, one of the training will become more specific and more intense. Candidates will then undergo self-defense courses, advanced marksmanship, rappelling, urban combat, survival training, advanced communication training, IED training, and unconventional warfare training.
