The test starts with a group run and everybody needs to keep a comfortable pace to accomplish the first 1.5 miles within the previously mentioned time frame. The candidates then receive a break of one minute, before heading to the second run of the day, which is a lot harder. The next phase is the gym phase, where the candidates are subject to bleep tests. VO2 max is a beep test. The pushups and pullups will be performed to a 1-sec bleep. This will be followed by the Swimming Pool phase, where the swimming and apnea are tested of the candidate, as well as their fear of heights. They have to jump from a 3-meter tower and swim 4x25 meter breaststroke. This is followed by a water object retrieval test.

Royal Marines - Basic Training

Basic Training lasts 8 months. The candidates will go through hard physical training to get the body ready for what is to come. Furthermore, the candidates will spend a lot of time on the rifle ranges, and learn individual fieldcraft skills. The candidates will be tested at various stages, to show that they are capable of handling the tasks as a Royal Marine. They will be sleep-deprived, hungry, and close to mental and physical breakdowns. Basic Training will be followed by the Commando Test.
