TEK, Terrorelhárítási Központ, or also Counter-Terrorism Centre (CTC) is the elite police force of Hungary. They are trained for various operations such as counterterrorism and secret service operations, as well as fighting high-profile crime. They also protect the Prime Minister as well as the President. The Unit TEK has been praised by Russia as a worthy unit. TEK won the 35th Annual SWAT Competition in Orlando, Florida. The operators from the Unit operate across the globe.

In order to join this unit, one candidate must be younger than 36 years of age and must have already served as a cop before. Those candidates who have an advanced background in martial arts are highly desired.

T.E.K. Pre-Selection

The minimum requirements are officially listed for T.E.K. However, it is to note that a candidate should aim to easily beat all those minimum requirements. Failure to receive a passing score in any of the various categories will result in immediate disqualification. When it comes to using weight in connection with your bodyweight, weights will be either rounded up or down in steps of 5. It is to note that the candidates will be also ranked against each other. It is of utmost importance to score high in every category in order to increase chances to qualify for the next stage. Furthermore, motivation and individual attitudes of candidates will be assessed, as those factor into selection as well. Besides the physical testing in Pre-Selection, candidates shooting skills will also be tested. The candidates will receive weapons for testing or will be allowed to use their own. The aspiring candidates are constantly monitored and will have to go through a TEK Hell week, which lasts 6 days. Anyone who will make it through Hell Week will enter the official selection phase, which will last 6 months.

An Officer of TEK usually earns 3x as much as a regular police officer in Hungary.

The CTC holds events yearly where not only TEK Operators but also soldiers, regular police officers, fire fighters, and others will showcase their martial arts skills for a good cause.
