The Bar-Or Test, which was invented by Professor Oded Bar-Or, used to be standard test for the military in Israel. It was replaced by the IDF recently in 2014. I assume that however, aspirants of the special forces still have to take this test as their 1st step in trying to become Sayeret Matkal, Shayetet or Shaldag.


Dr. Bar-Or was a mastermind. "His research explored the beneficial effects of exercise on the recovery and well-being of disabled soldiers, children's thermoregulatory responses and acclimatizaition to exercise in the heat, and the importance of air humidity in exercise induced asthma" (Dr. Jay Hoffman)

This test involves 3 different exercises, which have to be completed in the following order:

1. Pushups
2. Sit-Ups
3. 2000 Meter Run
